Mostly meditation: my Stocktwits podcast interview

I was honored to be featured on the Stocktwits Must Follow Podcast series a few weeks ago. I had an interesting conversation with Sean McLaughlin in which we focused heavily on meditation and trader development, but also covered a number of trading-related topics and ideas. Some of you may already have heard the podcast, but, just in case you missed it, I’m reposting here. Enjoy!

“A trader needs to be very comfortable with himself psychologically. He needs to be driving toward an understanding of his strengths and weaknesses and his attitudes towards risk, frustration, money, and wealth.”

Whether you’re a seasoned big bank market veteran or a newbie retail trader, we’re all traveling along a similar path, seeking our own versions of success. In many ways, the common thread of this experience can be analogous to “The Hero’s Journey.”

In this episode of The Must Follow podcast, I ask practicing meditator @adamhgrimes: Can the practice of meditation aid you on this treacherous road to trading mastery?

Adam and I discuss a wealth of benefits to be gained from learning and practicing to meditate, and we also explore the often-ignored negatives and dangers that can surface for traders when approaching meditation the wrong way. We then draw connections between a meditative state of mind and good trading which leads us ever forward along our “Hero’s Journey.”

Adam Grimes is a trader and analyst with over 20 years experience, and a dedicated meditator who has fantastic insight into the process and application of meditation to a trader’s routine. Adam’s experience with meditation pre-dates his interest in the markets as it was in meditation that he found a useful aid in deepening his study as a professional musician. Luckily for us, his artistry found its way to the markets and meditation has been a supportive companion ever since for Adam.

If you’ve ever wondered about meditation, are looking for out-of-the-box ideas to expand the toolset you bring to your desk every day, or enjoy learning from people who have traversed the path to trading success, there is something for everyone in this discussion with Adam Grimes:
