Adam's Bio

Adam Grimes has traded professionally since 1995, navigating all major asset classes—futures, currencies, stocks, options, and other derivatives—across timeframes from rapid scalps to multi-year portfolios. His career includes roles as a proprietary trader, analyst, advisor, and system developer for institutional and individual traders alike.
Growing up in an agricultural community in America’s Midwest, his first trades were in agricultural commodities and futures. He later moved into currency futures, and then to stock index futures, options, and individual equities.
Adam holds an MBA from The Ohio State University and is the founder of MarketLife, LLC, which offers daily market analysis and trading education. He is also President of Talon Advisors, LLC, an institutional advisory firm.
His previous roles include Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Waverly Advisors, VP of Quantitative System Development at Level Partners, Senior Analyst and Trader at MBF Asset Management on the New York Mercantile Exchange, and Chief Technical Strategist at SMB Capital.
Adam is the author of The Art & Science of Technical Analysis (John Wiley & Sons, 2012) and The Art & Science of Trading: Course Workbook (Hunter Hudson Press, 2017), and a contributing author to multiple publications on quantitative finance. He is widely sought after as a speaker on technical trading, risk management, and system development.
Beyond finance, Adam is an accomplished musician and professional composer. He is a classically trained French chef who apprenticed under Richard Blondin, a disciple of Paul Bocuse. He is also the creator of First Fire, a multidisciplinary inquiry into consciousness, the limits of human perception, and the philosophical structures by which we make meaning. It examines ontology, encounters with the sacred, and the ways such experiences shape our understanding of reality.
