The “why” behind my firm: Waverly Advisors

Earlier this week, I sent a note to my email subscribers in which I shared a few thoughts about blogging, the fascination of financial markets, and about my firm, Waverly Advisors. This morning, I’d like to share that note with you.

Waverly Advisors LogoMany things about financial markets are fascinating. I remember the very first time I saw an intraday chart develop (through a dial up modem!) I was mesmerized by the patterns—very much like staring into a campfire. I’ve come a long way since then, but after thousands of trades, hundreds of thousands of words written on the subject, and many hours spent peering into the statistics and probabilities, I’m still fascinated by the patterns, and the quest to understand the truth behind them, as I was two decades ago.

In all my work and writing—from the book to the blog to the podcasts to the many presentations I’ve given over the years—I try to drive toward that truth. It might seem like a high-minded ideal, but the quest to know “what’s really going on here?”, or even more “what can we really say we know with certainty about markets?” has become a lifelong pursuit. And, of course, where this all gets really interesting is when we cross from abstract theory to the rough and tumble realities of the financial markets. When, where, how, and why do we actively trade?

Six years ago, in the uncertainty following the financial crisis, those questions drove me to start my firm, Waverly Advisors, and I’d like to take a few moments today to tell you a little bit about what we do there. I started the firm, with my partner, with one idea in mind: we would cut through all the garbage and hype and give people the tools they need to manage risk and make money in financial markets. Seeing the growth of this firm and the evolution of our product has been beyond rewarding—I don’t like to brag, but I can’t tell you how proud I am of our product and what we have been able to do for our clients.

We publish research reports that cover all major liquid markets, on timeframes from intraday to portfolio construction for long-term investors. We publish a report for active traders (the Tactical Playbook) and one for longer-term investors (the Tactical Portfolio Outlook); part of the trial process is figuring out which report best fits your trading style. (There are other perks, such as a regular Wednesday webinar, and my availability for discussions/questions on the research; we work hard to be accessible to our clients.)

I often tell people that the research is the “pointy end of the spear.” What I write in the blog and the book and the trading course is drawn from the best and most important things I have learned about certain kinds of trading, but it is a little theoretical—the research products put these lessons in the live markets, and we can see how trades and directional ideas play out in real market conditions. We have a strong track record on our calls, and provide a wealth of information that can be used to help you in your trading and investing.

Rather than go on at length here, let me invite you to take a look at our work, here at the end of the year. We offer a free trial, and we schedule a phone call in which you and I can speak regarding the research and how our clients apply it, during the trial period. The best way to get started is to go to this link, enter a little information about yourself, and we will get your trial started. I thank you for the chance to share a little about my firm with you.

I’m proud of what we do there, and this is the business that supports my blog, the podcast, the free trading course, and so much of what I am able to share with the trading community. I would be honored to have you take a look at our work, and see if it might have a place in your trading/investment process.

Is there any place where people can get some audited proof of those strong track records? Thanks.
